BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Supervision said Thursday it would enhance supervision to key sectors and leading officials this year to ensure clean and efficient work in promoting the country's sound economic and social development.The supervision and examination would target corruption in project construction, real estate development and land management, as well as corruption behind major accidents, the ministry said in a circular outlining major works in 2010.The ministry would investigate officials who meddled in construction projects against relevant regulations to seek personal gains, staff of supervisory organs who were negligent of duty or took bribes, and those who involved in serious commercial bribery cases, the circular said.The ministry vowed "zero tolerance" for these cases, it said.The ministry promised to step up its efforts this year to ensure the implementation of the central government's major arrangements for accelerating the adjustment of economic growth mode and promoting steady and fast economic development.It would also strengthen supervision and examination to make sure local governments will take measures to check the rocketing real estate price in some cities to ensure the sector's healthy development, it said."Lazy and incapable" officials would also be targeted in the supervision to ensure efficiency of government work, according to the circular.China has intensified its fight against corruption recently.In its latest effort, the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Tuesday listed 52 unacceptable practices in an ethics code for CPC cadres to follow.The code forbids conducts including accepting cash or financial instruments as gifts, and using their influence to benefit their spouses or children with regards to their employment, stock trading or business.

GUANGZHOU, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Southern Guangdong Province launched the pilot real-name ticket system Thursday morning amid China's efforts to curb ticket hoarding by scalpers.China's first real-name ticket was booked at 7:03 a.m. by phone, confirmed the ticket booking system of Guangzhou Railway Group (GRG), operator of the province's railways.The ticket, priced at 423 yuan (61.96 U.S. dollars), was for a hard berth on a train coded K446 scheduled for Jan. 30, running from south China's Shenzhen City to northwestern Xi'an City.The real-name system covers tickets of trains scheduled for the 40-day Spring Festival travel peak starting from Jan. 30. These tickets are now available as travellers can book 10 days in advance by phone.Travellers are able to dial hot lines to book tickets and get them from wickets in railway stations or ticket agencies before midnight the day after the booking.The traveller only need to follow automated voice instructions and dial in necessary information. After the booking is accepted and processed in a computerized database, the automated voice system will issue a booking code. With the code and ID card at hand, the traveller can get his ticket from wickets in railway stations or ticket agencies."This procedure is expected to prevent long queues at the windows because most of the communication is made on phone," said Huang Xin, head of GRG's passenger transport section.The National Development and Reform Commission forecast some 210 million train trips during the Spring Festival rush, a year-on-year rise of 9.5 percent.The real-name system has drawn much attention in China. BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 42.5 million Chinese rural workers received professional training in 2009, up 7.6 percent from the previous year and 42 percent higher than the yearly target, the Chinese Ministry of Education said Tuesday.About 7.91 million workers were trained in cities they work in after migrating from rural areas, accounting for 18.8 percent of the total, while the rest were schooled in their hometown provinces, the Ministry said.After the outbreak of the global financial crisis in 2008 when exports contracted and jobs vanished overnight, the Chinese government has increasingly emphasized the importance of rural worker training in a bid to improve worker's job skills and to prepare the country for industry upgrading, the ministry said.In southwest China's Tibet, training covered housekeeping services, traditional painting, solar energy applications and TV set maintenance which are closely linked with the local economy.In east China's Zhejiang Province, rural young people not enrolled at senior high schools have access to a 6 to 12-month training course to give them horticultural and general farming skills.

TAIYUAN, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tens of thousands of people in north China's Shanxi Province flooded onto the streets Saturday afternoon and stayed until Sunday morning after earthquake rumors spread in the coal-rich region recently hit by a 4.8-magnitude quake.Major streets, parks and squares in cities like Jinzhong, Luliang, Changzhi, Yangquan and Taiyuan filled with anxious people and private cars. In rural areas, many villagers went out in the open air with their personal property, such as TVs.The Shanxi Provincial Seismological Bureau issued an urgent statement Sunday morning, asking residents to keep calm and not to believe in the quake rumor."According to the quake forecast regulation, only the provincial government can release quake forecast information. Other organizations and individuals are not authorized to do so," the statement said.The bureau is using TV, radio, Internet and text messages to clarify the situation and calm the residents.Meanwhile, local police are investigating the incident and trying to find out the source of the rumor.On Jan. 24, a 4.8-magnitude quake struck Yuncheng City in Shanxi.
