HONG KONG, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China displayed a scale model of its jetliner C919,the country's first home-grown large commercial airliner, for the first time at the Asian Aerospace '09 on Tuesday. With a scale of one to ten, the model was so far "the most precise one put up for public display," said Guo Bozhi, president of the Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute, a unit of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, or COMAC.     The mockup was displayed at a prominent position at the Asian Aerospace, Asia's leading air show, side by side with industry giants like Boeing and Airbus. Together with some ten other Chinese mainland-based manufacturers, suppliers and service providers at the show, it attracted attention of media from around the world. BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's crude steel output would surely top 500 million tonnes this year, said Luo Bingsheng, vice chairman of China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) on Saturday.     In the first half, China produce 266.58 million tonnes of crude steel, up 1.23 percent over the same period last year. In June alone, the daily output was about 1.65 million tonnes on average.     Compared with an increasing production capacity, the country's steel enterprises saw declining profits and revenues in the first six months amid low steel prices resulted from weaken market demands.     According to statistics covered 71 of China's large-scale steel producers, total business revenue of them dropped 28.07 percent year on year to 955 billion yuan (139.82 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half. Profit decreased by 98.32 percent to 1.73 billion yuan.     China produced 500 million tonnes of crude steel last year, accounting for 38 percent of the world total production volume.

BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) issued a statement late Monday saying it would approve U.S. automaker General Motors Co.'s (GM) plan to buy part of parts supplier Delphi Corp, but set conditions on the deal to avoid restricting competition.     The approval came after an anti-monopoly probe by the MOC into the deal last week and negotiations with the two companies over the deal conditions, aimed to avoid exclusion or restriction of competition, according to the statement.     The conditions include a ban on GM and Delphi exchanging trade secrets on Delphi's other Chinese customers, to prevent GM from getting confidential and competitive information.     Delphi should also maintain the timeliness and quality of supplies indiscriminately to the other domestic automakers, at market prices.     The ministry said it had discussed with the two companies its concerns on competition, and GM and Delphi had come up with solutions.     According to a Dow Jones report Monday night, authorities in the U.S. and E.U. had earlier given their approval for the deal, after Delphi, GM's former parts division, received approval from a U.S. court to sell assets to its lender and GM.     The report said this would clear the way for the auto-parts supplier, which operates 17 wholly-owned entities and joint ventures in China and 21 manufacturing sites, to end its four-year stay in bankruptcy.     Under China's anti-monopoly law, mergers and acquisitions that could impact the domestic market must undergo an anti-monopoly review.

BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- China's top three telecommunication operators, China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, invested 80 billion yuan to boost the third-generation (3G) network so far this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said Wednesday.     China Mobile, the leading mobile network operator, has opened 3G service in 38 companies based on the domestically-developed TD-SCDMA 3G standard, and is expected to expand the service to 238cities by the end of this year.     China Telecom has also offered 3G service using the U.S.-developed CDMA2000 standard in 342 cities, while China Unicom has expanded its network based on Europe's WCDMA standards to 100 cities.     The top three operators have started trial 3G operation, which allows mobile phone users to download data faster, make video calls and watch TV shows.     The ministry expected the three operators would invest 170 billion yuan (24.87 billion U.S dollars) in 3G network construction this year.     China's top three telecommunication operators are expected to invest 280 billion yuan in 3G products and network construction from 2009 to 2010, said Lu Xiangdong, Vice President of China Mobile Communications Corporation here Wednesday.     It is estimated that the growth of China's multimedia industry, e-commerce and cultural creative industries stimulated by the 3G technology will generate at least 2 to 3 trillion yuan of social investment, Lu said in addressing 2009 China-UK Internet Roundtable Conference Wednesday.     According to China Internet Network Information Center, the country's Internet users reached 338 million by the first half of this year. TAIPEI, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan is on high alert and taking early actions including pre-storm evacuations in expectation of typhoon Parma, barely two months after typhoon Morakot devastated the island.     More than 1,200 villagers from four counties including Nantou, Chiayi, Kaohsiung and Pingtung have been evacuated as of 1 p.m. on Sunday, in case of mudslides triggered by Parma. These people were sheltered in safer places, local authorities said.     "Taiwan has been working hard to get ready for the typhoon, in the hope of reducing people's losses.
